Austin adds something new every week. The good stuff is still word of mouth, and every list of it is stale, paid for, or written by someone who does not go.
Some people hold up the creative soul of a city: the ones who book the room, run the space, fund the thing, know where to go. They mostly do not get named and they mostly do not get paid for it. We put a light on them, we feature them, and we throw nights that celebrate and fund them. What you do here depends on who you are.
Nights worth going to and guides worth trusting, from people who actually go. You stop trawling lists somebody was paid to write and start hearing it the way you would hear it from a friend who is out five nights a week.
Doing well and want it to mean something locally? The people keeping this city interesting need money and attention more than they need another follower. We build the pathways: fundraiser nights, features, direct introductions to the people doing the work. This is how you become one of the reasons a scene survives.
Keep doing what you are doing. We come to you: a feature, a night built around your work, an introduction to somebody who can fund it. You do not have to pitch us, and there is nothing to apply for.
